Chocolate Red Port - "Porto Rosso"

I don't know that I can come up with enough superlatives to describe this port. First, I've been a fan of good, smooth ports for a long time. Second, most of the time when I hear the word "chocolate" and "wine" or "port" it is an automatic reject in my mind. Chocolate wine usually looks like some horrible chocolate milk in a wine bottle. But this...THIS. I bought a bottle of it at a wine outing, I believe it was in Allaire State Park. I was living in Pennsylvania then, but was moving to New Jersey soon. I took it home, finally uncorked it, as a celebration of the move, and fell in love. The nose is superb, giving a blend of the chocolate with the grape. But the best, for me at least, is after you've had that first sip, and your tongue is telling you that on top of drinking wine, you just bit into a Hershey's Kiss. Kudos to Hopewell Valley. I hope you continue making this port for a long long time, because I doubt that I will ever find a better Porto Rosso.

Not many wineries can pull off a chacolate port, but these folks did! This is a great after dinnner port and it gets so many compliments that we often gift it to friends or when going over someone’s house. I also made my home made truffles with it!

I went out of my way to order this Port. First tried it when I lived in NJ and now I'm ecstatic that I can get it shipped here to me in Florida! It's a perfect gift at the holidays too.

One of the best wines I have tasted; Very Smooth and tastes amazing. Not overpowering.Even if you are not a red drinker, this is a definite must!

I can tell you that I've been combining cigars with port for the last 15 years. I tried this port at a wine event nearly two years ago, and can honestly say it is the best tasting chocolate port I've ever come across. This is NOT a chocolate wine. It is a true port with just a touch of clear, wonderful milk chocolate. The after-taste is just as good as the port itself. Kudos to Hopewell Valley and their winemaker for this outstanding addition to the port family.

This is my favorite ever. It's smooth and taste like melted chocolate in a bottle.

We really enjoy the Porto Rosso-Red Port. It is not heavy or syrupy and just right to finish off a special meal.
